Entries for the 2010 Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa will be closing on Sunday, 31 January at midnight. This will be your last chance to enter using the normal rate or the discounted Spec-Savers special – from then onwards the late entry fee will apply.
This year's Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 SA was sold out and entries have begun pouring in for Ironman SA and the 1800 limit looks lightly to be reached.
To complement its recent Anti-Doping initiative announcement, World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) has created the Ironman Pro Membership Program. In an effort to standardize and enhance WTC’s events worldwide, acceptance into the program will be mandatory for all professional athletes competing in future Ironman and 70.3 Events. The program will officially begin on February 1, 2010. WTC will collaborate with national triathlon federations to build upon this new program.
We are pleased to announce that Coco-Cola SABCO – one of the biggest local bottlers of Powerade and Coca-Cola – are back on board as a sponsor. Powerade will be the official nutritional drink on both the Spec-Savers Ironman and Ironman 70.3 SA courses. Back by popular demand this drink is a firm favourite among the athletes and will be available at all the cycle and run aid stations.
Thanks to everyone who supported our countrywide Roadshow … we trust you were inspired to join the Ironman family. We completed our final one in East London and drew the much awaited free entry to the 2010 Spec-Savers Ironman and Ironman 70.3 SA. Congratulations to Max Lange who won an entry to IMSA and Mario Schehle to IMBC - we look forward to seeing both of you on the starting line come 2010!
